3 Home Remedies for Toothaches

You could be experiencing a toothache in the middle of the night for various reasons. You may blame that blueberry smoothie you had for dessert, and while you’re not entirely wrong, your toothache is most likely trying to tell you something important.

There might be an underlying cause of your toothaches, which can only be treated by a dentist. But in case you can’t visit one, here are a few home remedies for toothaches you can try for pain relief.

Remember, if your pain persists, you need to see a dentist for proper diagnosis and treatment.

1. Avoid Certain Foods And Drinks

Our teeth react to what we eat and drink. To avoid late-night toothaches that keep you up all night, we recommend you avoid consuming certain things before going to bed. Largely, you should steer clear of acidic, cold, and/or hard foods, especially at night.

2. Rinse Using Anti-Bacterial Mouthwash

To keep your toothaches at bay and to maintain better oral health, start using anti-bacterial mouthwashes. These don’t have to be fancy and expensive; you can also create one at home! Just take some salt and mix it with water, or you can also use hydrogen peroxide instead of salt. Either mixture can be used as a mouthwash that has anti-bacterial properties.

3. Use Ice Packs

Some of you will probably encounter swelling in your gums if your toothaches. So, another home remedy for toothaches is the cold compress. You’ll need an ice pack for this, which you can also make by putting some ice in a towel, which needs to be pressed gently against the area where you’ve been swelling.

Eventually, the swelling may subside, bringing you pain relief as well.
